This is a very comfortable mid-range hotel in walking distance to the temple (about 750m to main gate). The hotel is quite lovely in the old style. Walkways have beautiful tiled floors & table lamps outside the rooms. The pool area is lush & pool water quality excellent. Staff are friendly and responsive. Our ‘junior suite’ was enormous: entry, lounge with desk & fridge, large bedroom with tv & chest of drawers, dressing area with wardrobe, main bathroom with shower & toilet plus a second toilet room near the entry! Bed was firm but comfortable. A/C was good. Breakfast (in a lovely spacious dining room) was a-la-carte with choice of western or Indonesian breakfast. Personally, I enjoyed the Indonesian options & it was actually nice to not be overwhelmed by buffet choices. I tried both the nasi goreng with egg & chicken & the chicken soup (soto ayam) & both were delicious. With coffee and fresh fruit, it was a substantial breakfast. My husband went with the western options (toast, eggs, fruit) and was also happy.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious, the junior suites are exceptionally good value for money. Everything is spotless, the garden areas beautifully maintained, the pool is just glorious amidst frangipani and palm trees. Also we had lunch there, the food was freshly cooked and delicious, we highly recommend the Soto Ayam in particular. Lots of choice for breakfast . All the staff are so helpful and gentle, Bambang was a great help with our onward travel arrangements. This is perfectly located for exploring Borobudur ( only 5 minutes walk from main entrance) and the many areas of beauty in the vicinity . We wish we’d stayed longer than 2 nights and highly recommend this lovely hotel which is really well run.

the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our requests. They were able to extend breakfast time due to our visit to Borobudur temple and gave me a private space to teach yoga classes in the morning and evenings to my group. Breakfast was delicious and we also chose to have dinner there once, which was really good. The hotel is very close to the temple. there is a big pool which is definitely a bonus. we booked massages through the hotel as well, and although it was a bit pricey, they were really good.

Sarsvati Hotel is very close to the Borobudur complex and really gorgeous. We arrived by car and were a bit early, but the lovely gentleman in charge had our rooms ready and let us check in a bit early. The lobby and rooms are grand and beautifully decorated. The pool is fabulous and I loved the central courtyard aspect of the rooms. We had to make a very early start on our checkout day and the hotel kindly agreed to let us have breakfast at 6am, even though it normally starts at 7am. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for more.

Karen

Surprisingly beautiful building with high ceilings and antique furniture. Better than its pictures really. Very colonial style but not in your face. 5 min walk from the temple so perfect base for it - can see it first thing and come back for breakfast! Staff so friendly too.
